Holla at my new bling!
Straight Shot Metal Smashing for the win.
Looky atmy Dassah's new bling.
The inscription reads CITTOJ.
WTH is CITTOJ? I thought your horse's name was some obscure foreign name?
Well, let me tell you about a band called "Over The Rhine."
Actually, go check them out.
CITTOJ stands for "Comparison is the thief of joy" - the female lead has it tattooed on her shoulder.
Apparently the quote is attributed to Theodore Roosevelt.
I should get it tattooed over my whole flipping body and the backs of my eyelids.
I should get it embossed, engraved, embroidered, and emblazoned on every piece of anything I own.
It should be the first thing I read in the morning and the last thing I read at night and re-read every minute of the day in-between.
I shouldn't be allowed to get out of bed without meditating on it. I shouldn't be allowed to drive without reciting it to my car door. I shouldn't be allowed to speak to anyone without greeting them with it.
I fail so badly at remembering. My heart can feel like it got beaten with a cast iron skillet when I forget. You'd think a person would remember that!
You can't go back and undo everything you learned that sent you on the path of forever comparing. You can't re-live your childhood and guide that little girl along and teach her that she's 100% valuable just as she is. We'd all be healed and free and honest and healthy if that could happen. And lord knows we aren't! So the next best is re-framing and hearing and speaking and believing and having grace for yourself when you fail miserably and your heart gets smashed around with cookware.
Comparison is the thief of joy.

ReplyDeleteThanks! I think Henry needs some bling too ;)
DeleteHe so does!! I just ordered some new bridle tags.. sadly I am so classic hunter princess. Maybe I will spice up his at home bridle :)
DeleteI WONDERED!!! I didn't want to be nosy, you know? I love it 800 times more now.
ReplyDeleteHahhah - I wondered what you would be thinking about that inscription. :) LOVE THE CHARM! Thank you for starting this business!
DeleteHey! You introduced me to that group and they are great! Love the quote -- except when I first read it I thought is said "compassion is the thief of joy" and was a tad bit confused. Comparison makes much more sense and I couldn't agree more. Love it! What do you do with the charms? Put them on the halter or bridle somewhere? I might *need* one! :)
ReplyDeletehahah. that would be confusing!!!
DeleteI put the charm on her bridle - it's so cute!
And yes, you "need" one. :)
